best boots for the snow?
I keep wearing (/ having my mom get me) cheap-o ugly rainboots and they keep cracking and leaking and then I convince myself I don’t have enough time to look for a pair of good quality rain/snow boots and the cycle repeats. I think I am finally ready to invest… recommendations solicited.

alishalisha: mollybierman: via volcanoes: “Science isn’t an isolated trade skill,” Mr. Friedman said, pointing out that farmers need basic science knowledge to understand genetically engineered crops and voters need it to assess candidates’ views on global warming. freedom?
woo… I left V to be third wheel on a ski trip (“feels like -33°F” wasn’t in the cards for me this weekend) so that leaves me with absolutely nothing on my calendar until 6pm tomorrow.  What to do?! And by “what to do” I mean, which is the best venue for a long, lonely day of studying? So many choices.

scout: mollykay: Ever since reading about how Pa Ingalls or whatever his name was had to dig actual tunnels through the snow just so Laura and her sisters could get out the front door, most snowstorms have been sort of a letdown.  pa ingalls these books recalling the trials and tribulations of laura ingalls wilder makes me feel kind of weak sauce for giving myself a complete snow day...
